Rack of tubesThe Chemical Pathology Laboratory provides an extensive range of services covering both routine biochemistry and highly specialised analysis and interpretation. The laboratory is led and supported by experts in their discipline and is highly regarded for the clinical opinion which supports interpretation and diagnosis.

The service comprises four main laboratories:
• Routine biochemistry
• Metabolic biochemistry
• Special enzymes laboratory
• Newborn screening

The Chemical Pathology Laboratory hosts and supports several National Specialist Commissioning Group (NSCG) Services including lysosomal storage disorders and muscles glycogen metabolism. We also have strong collaborative links with other highly specialised diagnostics laboratories, such as the Neurometabolic Unit at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
