Paediatric Malignancy Unit

The Paediatric Malignancy Unit (PMU) is a unit providing a wide range of molecular genetic and cytogenetic diagnostic tests to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), other NHS trusts in the UK and the private sector. We have established a national service for several rare disorders.  We provide a national service for neutropenia and juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia.

The PMU provides a specialist haematology and oncology service for patients at GOSH as well as for external hospitals. We work closely with staff from the haematology, oncology, histopathology and neuropathology departments at GOSH.

All members of staff are Health Professions Council (HPC) registered; with genetic technologists on the voluntary HPC register. We are also a registered genetic technologist training laboratory.

We provide personalised research services to academic institutions and the private sector and participate in national and international collaborative research projects.  For further information on our research activity please see the main research section.
